Nihonbashi-Kyobashi Festival / Oedo-Kakki Parade
Traditional festivals and dances all over Japan gather at Nihonbashi
“Nihonbashi-Kyobashi Festival” will be held on October 27, 2019.
Nihonbashi was the starting point of “Gokaido” of the Edo period connecting Edo (modern-day Tokyo) to all other parts of Japan as well as the ending point of the Five Routes. In 1972, the parade that perform drum and fife band, stuffed animals, Daimyo-Gyoretsu was held to commemorate the completion of national highway. And later, “Nihonbashi-Kyobashi Festival” is held in October every year, it will be the 47th this year. Traditional festivals, dances, local specialties and regional dishes gather from whole Japan. It’s luxurious festival that Japanese culture is jammed tightly, so to speak, the festival is “picking the best of Japan”.
Beginning from the opening parade of the local&public office organizations at Chuo-Dori, 14 teams perform the local traditional festival and dance “Oedo-Kakki Parade” is the biggest attractions in the festival.
Even after the parade, you can enjoy a rich individuality festivals and dance performance at the 5 locations of the Chuo-Dori.
In “Shokoku-Orai Market”, you can buy local specialties, and you can also taste the local cuisine. There are opportunities to interact with rugby members who players on a rugby top league and team for adult.
