The Koenji Station area is buzzing for two days with the powerful Awa Odori
Event cancellation announced
“Tokyo Koenji Awa-Odori” will be held around JR Koenji Station and Marunouchi Line Shin Koenji Station on August 22 and 23, 2020.
Awa Odori is the traditional dance of Tokushima with a history that spans over 400 years. Today, Awa Odori is enjoyed throughout Japan with local festivals adopting the name and preserving the culture.
“Tokyo Koenji Awa-Odori” was held for the first time in 1957, and will celebrate the 64th this year. It is now one of Tokyo’s summer features.
10,000 dancers showcase the performance, a crowd of 1 million people cheers, the area around Koenji station overflows with the heat of Awa Odori for two days.
