Kameido Tenjin Shrine Annual Festival
A fantastic scene illuminated by a faint light of 1,000 lanterns in the precincts
“Kameido Tenjin Shrine Annual Festival” will be held from August 23 to 25, 2019. Kameido Tenjin Shrine enshrined Sugawara Michizane as the god of learning, it is said that there is a divine favor for the students.
The annual festival will be held for three days. “Kentomyo” (献灯明 / けんとうみょう) that is decorating more than 1,000 votive lighted lanterns, and “Takigi-Kagura” (薪神楽 / たきぎかぐら) that is torch-lighted Shinto dance will be held on August 25th. The faint light of “Kentomyo” is reflected in Shinji-ike (pond), creating a fantastic sight.
