“Toro” (Lanterns) filled with wishes of each person color the water surface of the Sumida River
The summer event “Sumida River Toro Nagashi” (Lantern Floating Event) will be held on August 10, 2019.
“Toro Nagashi” of the Sumida River which was held for the first time at the Festival of Recovery in 1946 was suspended to maintain the tide embankment, but it came to be held again after the Sumida Park Shinsui Terrace was completed. The scenery where many people float lanterns with various wishes on the river is becoming a summer tradition of the Sumida river.
If you participate in the “Toro Nagashi”, it is charged and it is also possible to accept on the day at the venue in addition to advance reservation. Only viewing is free.
