“Sensu” (Folding fan) and “Uchiwa” (Paper fan) with crows motif are popular as good Luck Charm
The origin of the festival is that the warlord Minamoto no Yoriyoshi and his son Yoshiie prayed the victory at Okunitama Jinja Shrine for Zenkunen War (Zenkunen no Eki) that is subjugation of Oshu Abe family. The festival is begun for visiting to shrine the victory thanks. They were offering of the plum “Sumomo” at that time, therefore plum market started in the precincts. It is said that there are benefits of rich harvest, epidemic exclusion, and good luck in “Sensu” (Folding fan) and “Uchiwa” (Paper fan) with crows motif that are sold only at the festival. About 70,000 people visit the festival.
