Japan’s largest Marie Antoinette exhibition
Mori Arts Center Gallery, in cooperation with Versailles, will display a significant exhibition on Marie Antoinette, the doomed French queen known for her flair for entertaining and her refined taste in art and fashion. It will be the largest exhibition and the first retrospective on the French queen in Japan.
Marie Antoinette (1755-1793) married the French king Louis XV’s grandson Louis-Auguste (later Louis XVI) at the age of 14, and became queen. About 200 works of art and furnishings will be exhibited, together with loans from other public and private collections in France and beyond. Portraits, tableware and lacquerware that queen was favorite, furniture, clothing worn, artistic, such as Revolution of the material and historical value items will be exhibited.
The main feature of the exhibition will be the reproduction of the Queen’s Private Apartment, the bedroom and bathroom equipped with a large part of their furnishings, alongside the library (that does not exist now) which will be reproduced in virtual reality.
It is a valuable opportunity to experience that she lived the space and their era.
